I've had mine for 2 years now, and I really do like it. It's kind of a synthesizer with strings to pluck. I'd say it has most of the features you'd expect from a simple keyboard, but plays like a guitar! The top half of the fretboard lights up to teach you chords to play when practicing the installed midis. The songs that come pre-installed include 'Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay' - Otis Redding, 'Tears in Heaven' - Eric Clapton, 'Hard Day's Night' - The Beatles. The tracks are in Midi form, of course. There were downloadable songs on Yamaha's website, but I haven't checked to see if they're still there.
Now, there were a few things keeping me from giving this thing a full 5 stars - The big one for me was not having a power adapter. It's a pain trying to find 6 aa batteries...Read more

I bought it to try out as a MIDI input device to my Sibelius software. I just wanted to enter one note at a time in real time. I thought it would be easier than picking notes out on the piano because I don't play piano. For several reasons it didn't work well at all for that, so I sent it back. Other than that, I have no opinions about this product. It seemed nicely made, probably ok for what it was intended for. It's mostly a toy in my opinion.
