I've been playing guitar since caveman times. I've been looking for something smaller than my Martin dreadnought--for a new tone in my recordings, and to have a guitar I can sit on the couch and play comfortably. I saw this in GC, picked it up and fell in love. OK, fell in like. It's easy to play, sounds great, has a solid wood top, and the price can't be beat. I actually went back to the store later to make sure I had the right model number. I haven't bought one yet but I will and I'll get it here through Amazon. (Buy a guitar at GC? Who does THAT?) Recommended if you're a seasoned player, or if you're looking for an inexpensive yet well-built, easy-to-play guitar for your kid.

The only complaint I have with this Korean-made Takamine guitar is the action height at the nut. My guitar's bridge saddle and neck tension were perfect, but the string slots in the nut were higher than they should have been on a guitar that otherwise is outstanding. A couple of careful sessions with very fine miniature rattail files and fine saws, and the action is perfect. A shop sale should include this for free, but if you buy a guitar online, you are on your own. You CAN do it, but you must be very careful and work GRADUALLY. Use miniature files and thin-bladed hobby saws. These are tools I already own, and I have done this before, so I don't feel bad about having to do it myself. If you're not sure of yourself, an experienced guitar tech will probably charge $20-$50 for the service, which should include re-work if you're not satisfied with the first lowering.
The sound of this guitar, however, makes the effort worthwhile. Good bass response and wonderful midrange tone...Read more
