This review is from: Seagull S6 Original Slim Guitar (Electronics) I've been wailing on this guitar for about a month. I have never actually played the guitar before this month (although I have played the viola for countless years). I know from experience that the most difficult part in being motivated to play an instrument is definitely the beginning. However, this Seagull S6 Slim, although its given me some beastly calluses, has been an incredible instrument to learn how to play the guitar on this past month and I am more motivated now than ever to master the basic techniques and learn the more difficult ones (probably in the far off future).
I looked through a lot of music stores and as far as sound versus price went, this guitar was definitely one of the best that I found. It had an incredibly full tone compared to the other guitars in its price range and the thing is freaking loud. I liked the "slim" version of the S6 more. I have pretty skinny (but long) fingers and it felt a lot more comfortable in my hands. I intended on buying a guitar in Seagull's Artist series that was more than twice it's price. After playing both, it seemed senseless to spend more on another guitar. The S6 Slim is the guitar I have been dreaming about for years. This is the most beautiful guitar you will hear, at ANY price. This guitar can be bought for well under $400. It is worth EVERY penny. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Seagull S6 Original Slim Guitar (Electronics) I bought my Seagull S6 Slim about 5 months ago, and it seems to sound better every time I play it. I ordered one online without ever playing one, because of all the great reviews. Made in a small town in Canada, it's refreshing to find such a quality, reasonably priced guitar that's not made in Asia. I replaced the strings with Elixir light gauge, and I borrowed a set of nut files to lower the strings at the nut. I bought this guitar so I could have one at work all the time. I work at a hospital and we have a group that will sing hymns for the patients and families that request us. I have a 1983 Martin D35 that I keep at home. I'll have to say that I still like the Martin more, but I can't say it's worth 6 times the price I paid for the Seagull. This S6 slim is really enjoyable to play, and it's also the best smelling guitar I've ever played, due to the cedar. I suppose that scent will fade over the years, but it's the first thing that hits you when you take the guitar out of the case. |
