The Seagull S6 Guitar--The Original, Updated with Godin QI
Winner of several awards, the S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. The S6 offers entry level players the opportunity to experience the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand finished neck, select solid Cedar top and a Custom Polished Finish.
The back and sides are constructed of wild cherry, the neck of silver-leaf maple, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
Seagull guitars all feature Tusq nuts and saddles. The fully compensated saddle helps the Seagull S6 original acoustic guitar play beautifully in-tune all over the neck.
About the Godin QI
The Godin EPM Quantum acoustic guitar system is simple in design and outstanding in performance. This single source system features an exceptionally responsive saddle transducer carefully matched to side mount electronics with rotary volume, bass, and treble controls. The electronics and controls are packaged in a small and easy to use format complemented with a finely crafted pewter cover plate. In combination with the transducer, the EQ control range and frequency content have been specifically contoured to provide a very rich and full sound reproduction resulting in performance seen only in far more complex systems.
The Godin Q1 also includes a built-in high quality digital chromatic tuner with LED display.
Operating Suggestions Before plugging in for the first time, adjust Quantum volume to minimum (fully counterclockwise) and set bass and treble at midrange. Plug into endpin jack and amplifier. Increase volume slowly to desired level. Adjust bass and treble to desired level.
The Seagull Original Guitar Series
The guitars that make up the Seagull Original series represent one of the world's outstanding values in acoustic guitars. The back and sides of the Original series models are made from a three-layer lamination of Wild Cherry wood. With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple, Wild Cherry has proven itself to be an excellent tone wood. Grown locally, Wild Cherry is also a choice. Original series guitars feature very smooth necks made from Silver Leaf Maple.
All Seagull Guitars Feature Reverse Headstocks
Each Seagull neck starts out as a single piece of Mahogany or Silver Leaf Maple. The wood is cut at a 45 degree angle after which the top piece - the Headstock - is glued back on with the grain reversed. This is an essential step in the Seagull process for creating incredibly stable necks.
More About Seagull Guitars
The Seagull story wouldn't be complete without mentioning La Patrie. La Patrie is a small village in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. This is where the first Seagulls were made in the early eighties. Today, La Patrie has a population of about 475 and about half of these people are guitar builders. These folks take a great deal of pride in the guitars they build.

This review is from: Seagull S6 Original QI Guitar (Electronics)
I am only a beginning guitarist but I have been a musician all my life. My main instrument is trumpet and I taught music. Anyway, this guitar feels good, sounds good and even SMELLS good. No kidding, the wood they used just has a nice smell to it. I love the built in tuner. And the sound is really nice. Sounds better to my ears than much more expensive guitars that I have heard. The strings are wider apart than my Yamaha so I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Also, it can probably get dented or nicked easier than my Yamaha because of the softer wood used and how they coat it. But that is what gives it the nice mellow sound. But mellow is not quite right, dark with a ring? Well, it is cherry wood and other sites say this about the sound. (With a sound that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of a Mahogany guitar and the bright sound of Maple) Hard to explain, go listen to one and you will see what I mean. Really is a nice sound. I don't use it with an amp...Read more

This Seagull guitar feels good in the hands and is beautiful to see. It has a nice cedar top and cherry wood sides/back. The electronic system works well but is fairly basic. The guitar has a nice playable fingerboard with slightly wider nut width which makes it much easier to play individual strings cleanly. The guitar can be played fingerstyle or with a pick equally well. The guitar has a rich slightly more treble tone so would use warm sounding strings. I bought the Seagull case to keep the guitar in and would strongly recommend it also.
