Pitch Pocket Tuners HST Clip-On Tuner

First, I am a beginner at tuning stringed instruments and music. This tuner works, but it is very sensitive and the needle moves very quickly. I find the red display hard to read. It is nice that the display changes color when you are on key, but the change is sudden and the sweet spot is very narrow. I also have an 'Intelli IMT-500' tuner and like that tuner MUCH better. With it I can 'sneak up' on the note as the meter moves more slowly and the display is much easier to read. Perhaps the Pitch Pocket would be fine for an expert who just needs to verify the instrument is in tune, but I will use the IMT-500.

The reason I have two is that I built two ukuleles and I wanted a tuner in each case. I thought I would see which tuner I liked better and I found out.

This tuner is my favorite. Like all clip on tuners, it works for both acoustic or electric guitars, as well as all kinds of basses, violins, and any other stringed instrument (since all stringed instruments are either tuned like a Bass [viol family in fourths] or a violin).

The guitar and bass tuning settings were nice and help you get into standard tuning quick, but they are not the reason I recommend this tuner. The reason I recommend this tuner is the fourth setting, Chromatic. You can tune to whatever you'd like. Drop D? No problem. Open C? You bet your ass. I actually tuned my guitar to Drop A and even managed to get a guitar to be in Drone Tuning (where all the strings are the same). You can tune your guitar to a strange setting like Zeppelin did for a few songs, or you can make up your own.

This is perfect. Very easy to use right out of the box. It turns from red to green when you are in tune and has an arrow indicator as well. The display is easy to move and read.
