First off, this guitar is really gorgeous. The stock images really don't do it justice, so I might upload some of my own. The workmanship is also very good. There wasn't any glue showing or things not in place. It feels really solid. After admiring how amazing the guitar looked, I tried to play a few notes and test the strings out. I'm no expert at playing by any stretch, but the guitar came pretty in tune and the strings didn't feel too cheap. Even with my hard strumming, the strings have yet to fault or break. The sound of the guitar is also one of the best I've heard for its price range. Now the bad, which, there isn't too much of. The guitar, while lovely, didn't come with any picks. I'm not sure if that's normal for guitars purchased online, but I thought I'd put it out there. This review is from: Oscar Schmidt OG2B Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (Electronics) I just got this guitar and am pretty impressed by it. It's not an overly loud guitar if you strum hard, but if you don't need a huge amount of volume it's pretty nice. It's has what I would call a bright sound. More midrange, less base, a little more twang. It's fairly easy to play with low action. It almost begs to be finger picked. If you need to play for other than a small group, then get one with an electric pickup. They are still quite reasonable. If you have the extra money, then a Washburn wd10 would probably be a little better. This is a Washburn made for Schmidt, and they may have cut a few corners but it's solid, plays nice, sounds nice, and stays in tune. Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Oscar Schmidt OG2B Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar (Electronics) This guitar is pretty much as expected, with the exception of the pick guard. It is shown with a tortoise shell pick guard, which really stands out and looks nice against the black body in the pictured image; however, it in fact has a common black pick guard. Kind of a disappointment, since the appearance of the guitar in the image is a large part of why I chose this one. (I will have the pick guard changed out by my local tech.)Also, I will need to get better strings put on it. It seems well constructed, but it does have a slight chemical odor about it, likely from the paint or lacquer-maybe the glue. The sound leaves a little bit to be desired, but I am convinced it will be much better with new strings. Great beginner guitar. |
