S34C Acoustic Cutaway
The NEX guitar body is a scaled-down Jumbo at heart. It has a silky balance to the tone that supports vocals beautifully.
Comment: I bought this guitar from a local dealer brand new after finding out my old guitar had some major fret lift problems. I am a beginner as well. So naturally, when choosing a new guitar, the dealer was kind enough to play several models, which included Yamaha, Sierra, and Fender. The Jasmine was the last instrument he played and where I may have felt hesitation or indecision with the other models, I instantly fell in love with the sound that came from this Jasmine. It was a no brainer for me. I am not a pro, and I have not been playing guitar for longer than a few months, so believe me, when I tell you there is an astounding difference in tone with this guitar, I am not lying to you. The Jasmine has a bright, airy, very acoustic sound to it and really does present music to the ears. It's not only beautiful, but easy to play as well.
This guitar has a laminate finish, so it's shine is attractive. There is also onboard electronics giving the artist an option to amplify the sound of the guitar, but it's not nessecary if you want to just play without one. The frets are easy to finger and there is just enough spacing between the strings for a learner to become quickly accustomed to chord changeups with little delay.
I did not use the strings that came with the guitar, instead I went with coated strings with smaller diameters (so it would be easier for me to finger the instrument). The pickguard is functional, and no, the brand name of the guitar isn't printed over and over, as another user said, remove the sticker and you are good to go. I intend to switch out my black guard for a tortoise one as that would really set off the beauty of this guitar even more and make it a little more my own.

Summary: I liked it, but its quality is bad 2010-08-02
Comment: 2 stars mean "I don't like it"... It's not that I didn't like it, it's just that it's quality is bad. And it doesn't matter how much I paid for it, it's how much its list price is. This should have a reasonable good quality for its list price. Instead, the one I bought came with a bad neck, buzzing a lot. I'm not going to tell the whole story here, but I ended up returning it.
Unfortunately, I learned the worst way that, sometimes, I should buy things in local stores. Sometimes, you must touch it, try it, feel it, before you buy it.
If you don't care about it buzzing or if you're willing to pay the same price you paid for the guitar to fix it such that it's usable, buy it. Otherwise, go to your local store and choose the guitar you like most.

Summary: good guitar. old strings so buy your own 2010-07-21
Comment: ok bought this guitar for use while i am deployed in Guam. it was cheaper that mailing one from home. overall i like the guitar the action is nice and it has a rich and full sound. HOWEVER my big complaint with this purchase is the strings are old. they are discolored and slightly corroded, and had absolutely no break in period during my first session. perhaps it is just me but when i buy a guitar i like it to come with NEW strings. i have never had this happen. even when i bought my other cheapo guitar directly from a guy. he went out and changed the strings for me before he gave it to me.

Summary: For the price it's awesome!! 2010-06-26
Comment: I've had this guitar for a couple of weeks now and I'm hooked. Most people have noted that the strings need to be changed, there is some type of black corrosion, and some strings seem to have been overstretched at some point - bumps along the string. Other than that the guitar sounds great! It sounds much more expensive than the 90 some odd dollar price tag! Great size with great, loud, and clear sound. Durability doesn't seem to be an issue - but have not crash tested it yet, lol. Seems to stay in tune okay, have only had to make adjustments a few times. Action is medium to medium-low, it's good for really making sure those chord shapes are proper, while not hurting your fingers, or your playing. A few upgrades may have this guitar sounding like a thousand dollar guitar, but for now I'm enjoying the surprising quality and the deal of a lifetime! Definitely would recommend this guitar to someone looking for an inexpensive beginner guitar for a teenager and up - too big for kids, in my opinion. Pretty sure I'll be ranting and raving about this guitar for quite awhile, at least until my playing matures to a more serious, and expensive, investment level!
