Product Review
Product Description
The New Essential Parlor represents a new area of innovation with Hohner guitars. These guitars are built utilizing a revolutionary technique Hohner calls Frequency Matching. Hohner’s technicians utilize a form of tap tuning to determine the resonant frequencies of the woods and then match the solid Sitka spruce tops with similarly resonant mahogany backs. Combining this process with a micro thin finish produced a powerful, rich singing tone that makes even the small bodied parlor sound huge. The Essential Parlor is also equipped with the Earvana Compensated Tuning System. This special nut and bridge assures that these guitars play with dramatically improved intonation, up and down the length of the neck making them a pleasure to play. All Hohner Essential guitars go through a 12 point inspection process at Hohner’s US facility to make sure every guitar is set up to sound and play great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar, but not really a parlor model., October 7, 2010

I am really excited about this guitar, the sound and build quality is great. In my opinion the guitar is "as advertised" Now for the not so great. The micro thin finish that they advertise means the top will be susceptible to dings and scratches, not good not bad, just know that. Second, good luck finding a case. This is not a true parlor size guitar, the body is smaller but the overall length of the guitar is 40"! That is the same length as my Dreadnought. The guitar fits tight (in terms of length) in my 000 sized case, it might fit better in a Dreadnought case but that would be huge. I'll have to do some looking.

2.0 out of 5 stars good looking guitar, horrible out of the box, November 21, 2011

i really wanted a parlor guitar, when it arrived in the mail it looked beautiful and simple, when i tuned it and try to play it that's where the nightmare began. out of the box horrible setup, a ton of buzz, i adjusted the truss rod and it somewhat killed the buzz then took it to some dude that does setups at a music store and he just adjusted the truss rod a little more and it sounds better but still has some buzzing frets and some kill the sound.

the guitar has good sound where it doesn't buzz i'm almost sure i have to take it to get the frets leveled. please do yourself a favor this is a piece of crap but underneath there is a quality guitar, do not order this model/series online at all, if you still want it make sure you get it from a dealer and try it before you buy it so you don't go through the nightmare i went.

good tuners everything seems good other than no setup and possibly bad frets (which is not worth it)

I'm so sorry for the second guy to leave a review. I got the guitar in a pretty big package and a case sized box inside. The guitar was perfect right out of the box. Looks amazing, sounds amazing and plays amazing. I don't know how I did it, but I got the guitar for $156. It's really worth every penny. Thank you Amazon!!
