New and improved for 2011. The left-handed CD-100 dreadnought delivers great sound, looks, feel and value, with a natural-finish spruce top, and mahogany back and sides. Upgrades include a new black pickguard and mother-of-pearl acrylic rosette design, new compensated rosewood bridge design, white bridge pins with black dots and smaller (3mm) dot fingerboard inlays. Features include X bracing, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard,dual-action truss rod and die-cast tuners.

This guitar is exactly what you'd expect from FENDER at the entry level. Paying an extra $30 for being left-handed is a little annoying, but having been left-handed for over 60 years, I am used to the small tradeoffs involved with being naturally superior. That's humor, folks.)

The finish is nice and the construction is of very high quality. Clearly a production line item, it does seem to have been inspected and adjusted by hand, and by someone who actually cared about the product. The only, very small, less than positive is the tone of the strings. While I don't expect FENDER to provide premium strings with a new entry level guitar the strings that came with the guitar seem excessively bright and metallic. I will shortly restring the guitar with some much higher quality strings and come back and provide an update of my opinion.

The vendor who shipped this product to me seems to have their act together and I have nothing but good to say about them...Read more

My 14 year old son comes to me that he wants to learn how to play guitar. I was elated. The search began. I didn't want to but the cheap $59 guitar or the $500 one. This one was rated highly around the web, and it has the Fender name behind it. All good. It is a quality instrument at a very reasonable price. The sound is full.
