It's pretty much a Martin D-16 with a stratabond neck. The stratabond neck is made of stocks of birch glued together in a pretty neat pattern, which may be a method for them to save money, but also means it's super strong (compared to a solid wood neck) and extremely warp resistant. As a billiards player I can tell you that this exact same technique is utilized in different cue shafts, and they have become the new standard, and I am definitely not going to worry about this neck. It has a satin finish that really doesn't feel like anything is there- love it or hate it. The neck is really fast because of this finish (or lack there of). The machines are top-notch, and all of the parts are great. The sound is very very warm and luscious- I had to decide between this and a seagull mini jumbo and I picked the D-1 because it had better control and richer lows.
