I am a complete novice so take this review from that standpoint. The guitar seems nice. Has a good sound, easy to tune. Decent soft case. The Learning Guitar software is OK. There is no easy way to move from lesson to lesson without returning every time to the top menu. Some of the lesson videos are a little terse, but I've managed (so far) to figure it out. I like the ability to slow down or speed up the playback. I think it makes a big difference to try to play with the computer accompaniment. Overall pleased. A lot of work ahead of me to get through it all.

I was fortunate enough to get this as a Today's Deals item for $99.99 around Thanksgiving. It is certainly a very good value at the current price as well.
The Firebrand guitar with steel strings is beautiful and has a perfect finish. (as pictured in the photo) The Firebrand gig bag is lightweight black nylon (with waterproof plastic lining)with a durable two-way zipper and two shoulder straps. The gig bag will not protect from impact, so you may want to invest in a hard case as well in the future. The guitar pack also comes with a CD-Rom with award-winning software that includes video lessons, a song player and an interactive guitar tuning program. In addition, you get 3 picks and a metal tool that appears to be for tightening strings (not sure).
As a gift, this is sure to bring some "oohs and ahs". I would definitely recommend that you order it as soon as you can if you are thinking of giving it as a Christmas gift. My kit arrived in perfect condition with no damage...Read more

The guitar is well made and durable. The guitar sounds awesome, especially given the price. Great VALUE FOR MONEY. The nut and saddle are cheap, as are the strings, but both are cheaply and easily replaced.
The software is great for learning basic notes and chords, which helps you get familiar with the guitar fast and start playing some fun songs. However, the software will not run on Mac OS X Lion or later. The software uses Power-PC code, which only Snow Leopard or earlier can run. If you have Lion, an easy fix is to download the exact same app from the Mac Store (see link). It is around $15, but well worth it. I spent days trying to find a user-friendly Power-PC emulator, but it's futile. Otherwise, acquire a copy of Windows XP or later and use Boot Camp, Parallels, etc. to run it.
You may want to download a third party guitar tuner for iPhone or Android. GuiTune is a personal favorite, but ProTune is great too. They are FAR CHEAPER than handheld tuners, and...Read more
